Saturday's Race

With the weather warming up that can only mean one thing... working Saturdays. It seems like the months of May and June I work more weekends than I stay home, but when your job is to help oversee major radio station events, I guess that's what you can expect.

Things have been super busy at work lately and will only be getting busier in the next month or so. Thank you Jana for your understanding and support. You're the best.

One of the cool things about working all of these Saturdays is that the majority of the time, our big Saturday events are tied into charities. That helps soften the blow of having to be away from Jana, Luke and Max 6 days a week. At least a little bit.

After doing some of these events year after year, I've really become attached to some of the missions of these non-profit organizations that we support. Especially the Susan G. Komen foundation. Being at the Race for the Cure on Saturday, I couldn't help but be touched by all the survivors and also the thousands of people who have lost those dear to them. It's on this day more than any other each year that I remember my Grandma Martin. She died after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

I spent an hour or so on Monday night putting together the video below for fm100.com. It turned out pretty good, considering I shot the video on our digital camera and not an actual camcorder. The funny thing is, after at least 10 hours of preparations - making sure we had all our gear, staffing, giveaways, tents, banners, etc. - that went into making sure this event went off without a hitch, I've gotten more praise from this video than I have ever recieved for making sure things run smoothly. But praise is praise and I'll take it where I can get it.
