About time

I figured it was about time for a new post. Life is really busy right now. Not only is it the busiest time of year in everyone's personal life (including mine), it is also the busiest time of year for me professionally.

I know there are only 2 people out there besides me who will appreciate the awesomeness of the video below. Right now the Ocarina (yes - the instrument from the Zelda games) is the #1 downloaded app for iPhone, and this hilarious video shows you why. If you want to be in an iPhone band with me, let me know!

I was at Sam's Club the other day eating lunch. One of the many reasons I eat at Sam's Club is they offer styrofoam cups that are so bad for the environment. But the styrofoam cup keeps the Huntsmans rich and my drink cold. Anyway, the cup actually asks you to email them if you have suggestions on a cup that could be better for the environment! I thought this was hilarious. What a dumb way to look green. I can see the Sam's Club Walton executives in a meeting coming up with the idea to print some bogus statement on their cups that would make everyone feel better about using styrofoam. Staring at my cup, I wondered who in the world (besides me and Abe) would take the time to email in an idea? So in the true spirit of "Letters from a Nut," (sorry Cheeseboy - we all know that's where you got your crazy letter ideas too), I took the time to write them an email. And here it is...

Dear Sam’s Club CafĂ© Cup person/people/team/board,

I had the pleasure of eating a delicious hot dog and Coke Zero at my local Sam’s Club this afternoon. My oh my that was some good eatin’!

While sipping my delicious fountain drink, I noticed you are soliciting suggestions on how to improve the environment with better beverage containers.

My suggestion would be to allow your patrons to simply stick their heads under the soda fountain spouts. This would eliminate the necessity of a cup altogether!

My coworker Brady suggests you come up with some sort of Sam’s Club mug. This idea I DO NOT support, but felt it appropriate to pass along nonetheless.

Thanks for your time and consideration! And please, please consider the environment before printing this email!

In other news, I totally got scammed this weekend by the online scammers over at soniccameras.com... The only reason I linked to their site is so you can see what to AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Also, so you could see how legitimate their site looks. But trust me - IT IS NOT! I wanted to buy Jana a new camera lens for Christmas and they were much cheaper than anywhere else. Too bad they are lying crooks.

They called me back to "verify" my order, and before I knew it they had talked me in to an entirely different lens. After doing some research on the new lens they substituted the other for, it retailed elsewhere for like $100. The old "bait and switch." Buyer beware!

So today I requested new credit cards from our bank so these lying sacks of crap who now have my credit card number won't be able to use or sell it. I feel stupid telling this story but if I help one of you out there to avoid getting scammed it's worth it. At least I'm not out any money.

Anyway, merry Christmas. Until I post again!

I had a similar experience with broadwayphoto.com earlier this year. They did the "call to verfiy your order" bit, and they tried to convince me that the camera I ordered was an international model with menus in Chinese, so I would have to pay extra to get the American model.

After 15 minutes of arguing with the guy, I finally told them to cancel my order. When I googled the company afterward, pretty much all the search results said something about it being a scam. I too felt pretty dumb for not investigating things a bit more thoroughly.

Ike-

Am i one of the 2 that you thought would appreciate the Ocarina? I loved that thing. I know I'm a pro after hundreds of hours of zelda.
