St. Patty's Day

I decided a long time ago that I hated corned beef and cabbage. Then Jana and I went on the South Beach diet (does anyone do this diet anymore?) a few years ago and we lived on cabbage for a few weeks. Spray enough I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray on it and you've got yourself a tasty yet unfulfilling snack.

And then Sunday we ate at Clark & Em's, and mom made corned beef and cabbage. I prepared for the worst, as I'd previously had a few bad corned beef experiences (I'll just say have a very sensitive gag reflex). But the corned beef was terrific! It was actually quite delicious. Way to go mom!

I think as I get older my taste buds are changing. I'm starting to like foods I never liked before. I can now actually stand the taste of bleu cheese. I could probably even eat a sandwich with Grey Poupon on it. Who knows - maybe someday I'll even like sushi. My taste buds are slowly turning into my dads. Soon I will be putting cheese on my apple pie.

Happy St. Patty's day everyone.

Here is my theory about taste buds. I learned in my nutrition class that babies and kids have the best working taste buds (the most sensitive) and adults have the least (over the years they wear down or get ruined). So, I think that is why kids are so picky and don't like many things because their taste buds are so sensitive. But as adults, we don't taste things as well, so we eat more things...like corned beef and cabbage and grey poupon.

Happy St. Patty's day. We're in town...lets hang out.

Or you could be like my dad and put "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" spray (or in my family we call Funny Butter) on everything . . .stir fry, wild rice, all vegetables, omelets, and even fruit. But he doesn't even use the spray. He has taken the liberty to bypass pulling off the plastic that covers the blue cap and just go straight to unscrewing the lid and pouring it on in large amounts.

PS- I think cabbage will soon become Heather's best friend, as we hear it is good for tender breast feeding breasts-- I am a fan of eating it, but if you have to much you better warn those around you!

Maybe you should try cabbage rolls smothered in Bacon. They are AWESOME. I'll send a recipe if you can figure out who I am.
